People living with these rare conditions often feel isolated because their diseases are uncommon, and they rarely find others around them facing the same challenges. This sense of being different can lead to deep loneliness. Many individuals struggling with neuromuscular diseases withdraw from social life because they don’t want others to see them in what they perceive as a helpless or vulnerable state.
Some are confined to hospitals for extended periods and may begin to lose hope, feeling as though surrendering to the cold arms of death is the only way to escape the pain and agony. Others fall into depression because they can’t do what many people take for granted, such as walking unaided, using the restroom, climbing into bed, cooking, or handling other everyday tasks. These limitations weigh heavily on their mental and emotional well-being.

Why the Foundation was born
To prevent these beautiful and amazing souls from feeling abandoned, the Foundation for Neuromuscular Support Nigeria was established. Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive environment for people living with neuromuscular conditions, reminding them that they are loved, seen, and cherished.
At the Foundation, we strive to ensure that individuals affected by any type of neuromuscular disease feel loved, included, and never alone in their journey. We also support their families, helping them understand they are not alone in this fight. In addition, we raise awareness within the community to break harmful stigmas. People affected by neuromuscular diseases are not cursed, and they should never be avoided or marginalized.
What We Do
We provide a safe space where individuals can share and learn from one another’s experiences. Through private and public donations, we are able to provide aids like wheelchairs and crutches for those who need them.

Through our Massive Awareness on Rare Diseases campaign (MARD), we raise awareness on the existence of rare neuromuscular diseases. Through compassion, advocacy, and community engagement, we strive to ensure that every person living with a neuromuscular disease in Nigeria receives the love and support they deserve and goes through life knowing they are not alone.
Your generous donations can help provide mobility aids for those who cannot afford them. Your emotional support to anyone suffering from any type of neuromuscular disease can go further than you can imagine. Sometimes, just a warm smile can make a world of difference in someone’s day.
